Prostate Cancer Screening was a Success

September Prostate Cancer Screening was a Success! Thanks to all who participated and those who made it possible.

Saturday, September 14th the Northeast Louisiana Cancer Institute and the Louisiana Cancer Foundation hosted its 16th annual prostate cancer screening for our community. We had 133 participants who received an examination by a physician and a PSA blood test. 9% of the participants had abnormal findings which will require additional follow-up care.

Special recognition goes out to the Urologists who volunteered their time to participate in this screening: Dr. Brad Johnson, Dr. Edward Rutland, Dr. Lee Humble, and Dr. Michael Cage. We could not offer this type of free care to our community without theses dedicated physicians!

Thank you also to the St. Francis Lab, ULM School of Nursing, members of the Cancer Foundation League, and the Northeast LA Cancer Institute Tumor Registrars for volunteering to make this screening a success.
